  Studio B
  Exile from Mainstream
  stranded 019 (2006)

wild horses / too bad / starbucker star /
  smile so sweetly / love'n'sex / dandelion
game / no time on hand / je t'aime / beast
of burdon / smile / lies / rip that joint
/ satisfaction / the singer, not the song
/ we love you / yeah chile / tumblin' dice
/ bitchin' / boogie in the ballroom /
can't be broke (ventilator blues) / good
times / long long time / coming down /
just another mad mad day on the road /
fingerprint file / when blue turns to grey

If you think you've heard some of the
titles on this album above before, well,
you're probably right. After setting the
beautiful poetry of Mr. Robert Mitchell to
music, Cologne's fabulous Studio B. tried
the next trick: set renowned song lyrics
  to poetic improvised music. Inspiration
for the band's efforts were the collected
works of god's very own Glimmer Twins.
These words haven't sounded so fresh and
alive in a long time. Stadium rock is bad
for your health. Everybody knows it, but
seldom does anybody send his or her tunes
on holiday to let them recover from all
too well known arrangements. This CD is an
exile from mainstream indeed. At least for
the song lyrics involved. Enjoy the fresh
  air of improvised first takes!
                              (Kurt Kreikenbom)

  Tent Sessions Volume Two
  stranded 018 (2006)

looks like rain / stupid is teacher /
chaos / neither reason nor unreason / evil
  / get away / reprise / spread ya wings / a
  1000 miles / I saw / lost it here / go
ahead / schukran / warm light / blue
guitar III / filth / does a rose give a
damn / how can you understand me / NY
train / that I have known the dead /
leavin' / walking blues / hush darling

I was sure that there had to be some more
gems on these 9 plus CDs that are the
genuine Tent Sessions. But what I found
while listening to all of them, was even
more than I had expected. Not only is this
CD an equally touching follow-up of Volume
One, but it's a friend for life! Due to
the fact that stranded013 is already a
  coherent representation of the two
artists' project, I was too happy to
emphasize the diversity of moods and
styles Stefan and Sibyll worked on, when I
compiled Volume Two. And still all 23
improvised songs on this album add up to a
  daring, courageous and very, very
  beautiful piece of art.
                              (Kurt Kreikenbom)

Desperate is Beauty because Beauty Dies
  (CD-R) stranded 016 (2004)

Passing of the Wings/For Franz Kline/To the
  Airport/Dream and Inference/Uneasy and
Discontent/When Sense is Blank to Fair a
  Skin/I Look at a Print/Horizon/My eyes are
  Getting Colder/Grains of Age/Haiku
  American/The End

Yikes! A great new CD! Robert Mitchell, my
favourite New Yorker poet and lead singer
with Missippi Goddamn (see other records
for details) left a couple of recorded
readings when he visited Cologne in 2000.
  Studio B, a new all-star band - Sibyll,
Donald and Slomo of Horse Cock
  Kids/Missippi Goddamn/Spunx-fame, former
  Furthur and outrageous painter Andreas
Bausch and guitar wizz Heinrich Vater -
textured the vocal tapes with sounds and
  improvisations. The result is an
atmospheric and funky album. Short of
playing time, but rich with beauty! Easily
ranks among the finest music that STRANDED
  could possibly offer.
                              (Kurt Kreikenbom)

  Music Is Prophecy/A Little Innocence/Poetic
  Reality/Truth Of Yes

Four songs out of the "tent sessions" have
been remixed by Jürgen Zehnpfennig in 2002,
and I'm proud and happy to release them
now! The music contained here is among the
  most disturbing, subversive and beautiful
that I've heard in ages. Artists like these
cats can create a whole world in a second
or tear down every imaginable wall that
keeps you from your freedom of expression.
  Maximally recommended!

  Sibyll Kalff and Stefan Bohnenberger
recorded 9 hours of free improvised
sessions in 2001 and cut them down to a CD
of 22 outstanding songs. Beautiful, fragile
and intense music, that cuts through the
superficial and insists on the possibility
of love and friendship even in the darkest
moments and situations. Not only if you
love Nico's "Chelsea Girls" you can make
  two new friends here.

  it!

  ... really homespun & definitely D.I.Y!
There are sections where it sounds like
th' ol' "Rubber Soul" recording sessions,
very "Beatles-zy"... others where you could
swear th' "Doobie Brothers" were reachin'
out to touch yer' ears. ... It's a fun
thang that merits a HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

best-of-CD of one of Cologne's loveliest and most idiosyncratic bands, the great HORSE COCK KIDS!! Free improvised, seldom over-dubbed rockers, bits and pieces full of fun, courage, beautiful singing and the true heart of rock'n'roll (this side of Huey Lewis & The News). Maximally recommended!
